Unleashed is the fascinating true story of one of the best
documented cases of a poltergeist explosion. The activity centers around Tina
Resch, a fourteen year old girl living in foster care. As the case unfolds, the
brilliant Dr. William Roll, one of the pioneers in the field of parapsychology
comes in to investigate. Tina Resch is the young girl who is the central figure
in the case.
The case is a complicated one; Tina had been caught
staging some of the events. Needless to say, that cast a pall over the
investigation. Tina was honest and admitted staging certain events. Her reasoning was simple;
reporters were camping out in her house and they were not about to leave until
they witnessed the amazing phenomena themselves.
However, Dr. Roll saw through that and took the case on.
He personally witnessed many events, events Tina could not have staged. So too
did others. Dr. Roll had a theory. He felt that Tina's tough life and the
incredible pressure she was under resulted in spontaneous bursts of energy. He
called this "Recurrent Spontaneous Psychokinesis. (RSPK) To prove his theory, he
set up laboratory experiments.
There is another part of this story and it is extremely
sad. Tina continued to struggle through life and there was a tragic turn of
events. While visiting a friend, Amber, Tina's three year old daughter
died. Her death was ruled a homicide. Although she was not there at the time,
Tina was charged with her daughter's murder. The man who was with Amber when she
died was sentenced to twenty years in prison. Upon the advice of her public
defender, a confused and medicated Tina accepted a plea "bargain." That plea
bargain resulted in her receiving a life sentence with little hope of parole. It
is a tragic ending to a tragic soul. Tina never had a chance for a normal life.
Abusive foster parents, unbelievable paranormal phenomena and low self-esteem
merged together into a "perfect storm" life. Justice was not served and
one can only hope that it will someday in the near future. Perhaps there is an
attorney in Georgia who will try to get the case reopened.
This book is a must read for anyone who studies paranormal
phenomena in general and poltergeist explosions specifically. It is a compelling
book and one you can easily read in one day. I found it hard to put it down. As
with most books I really enjoy, I am going to read it a second time in case
there was something I missed.
